ACTING

Amandla Stenberg (20 years old) is an actress and singer. She’s from Los Angeles, California.
She made her debut in the thriller “Colombiana” written and produced by french director Luc Besson, before being revealed to the world for her role as Rue in “Hunger Games”.
She later did feature films such as “Everything, Everything” and “The Darkest Minds”.
In 2018 she got the leading role in the movie “The hate U give” and became Starr.

In 2017, she makes a cover of Mac Demarco’s song “Let my baby stay” to promote the film “Everything, everything” (watch trailer here). Title Her cover will be part of the soundtrack of the movie.

PRIDE

In addition to being a talented actress, Amandla doesn’t hide her homosexuality, she came out while her success was growing and strongly supports the LGBTQ community. Despite the risks of coming out in Hollywood, she made it clear she wasn’t going to be anyone but herself.
Last October 2018, she made the cover of «Time» magazine.

Earlier in 2019, Amandla won the Visibility Award at the Human Rights Campaign‘s gala. She talked about her coming out 8 months earlier and about the need to have lesbian and black representation.

" When you are a marginalized person or a woman of color and/or someone who's a part of the LGBTQ community, your acts become politicized, just by being yourself. Because we're not completely accepting of all different kinds of human beings. By being myself, I'm doing something political."
